The prime accused in the Gokulraj murder, Yuvaraj was remanded in Vellore prison on Thursday after his bail had been cancelled by the Supreme Court. He was rearrested in Chennai on Wednesday.

According to The New Indian Express, the Namakkal CB-CID police brought Yuvaraj to Chennai and produced him before the judicial magistrate S Malarmathi and she asked the police to produce Yuvaraj in the court.

In the court, Yuvaraj requested to be lodged in the Salem Central Prison as there are pending cases on him in Salem, Namakkal, Karur and Erode. He has been sent to Vellore prison for 15 days custody.

However, the Chief Judicial Magistrate asked him to make this request to the Principal District Judge during the next hearing on September 8, 2016.

Yuvaraj, the founder of Dheeran Chinnamalai Gounder Peeravai has been accused of allegedly murdering Dalit youth Gokulraj, who was reportedly in love with an upper caste girl on June 24, 2015. He was on the run for several months before his dramatic surrender in October that year.

He was granted conditional bail by the Madras High Court in May 2016. According to The Hindu, he released three audio clips on Whatsapp, speaking about DSP Vishnupriya’s suicide case, and demanding for the Gokulraj case to be transferred to the CBI

The Tamil Nadu government moved the Supreme Court to cancel Yuvraj’s bail on the grounds that he was allegedly threatening witnesses in the Gokulraj case.
