The Ernakulam Town South Police Station received two complaints on Sunday from two individuals, each accusing the other of attacking them. The attack happened at film producer Alwin Antony’s house in Panampilly Nagar, Ernakulam.

Alwin’s complaint is against filmmaker Rosshan Andrrews who, he claims, came with several men to attack his family on Saturday. Alwin's son, Allwyn John Antony, had worked as an assistant director to Rosshan before. Rosshan’s complaint, however, says that it is he and his friend Navas who went to Alwin’s house that got attacked.

“It’s true there are two cases. We can say anything about it only after we investigate it and that is not easy now with both the complainants not being present in the city,” says Abhilash, CI, Ernakulam Town South Police Station.

Many versions have by now been floated. To corroborate, we tried calling Rosshan and Alwin. Rosshan said that he has no comments to make at the moment, let the police arrive at the truth. Alwin has not yet been available on the phone.

One of the first versions that came out is through a video interview of Alwin and his wife Angelina that on The Cue. Angelina describes the attack and says that Rosshan who came with some men had at first seemed calm but then turned aggressive, not sparing even the doctor friend who was visiting the family at the time. If their son Allwyn John Antony was at home, Rosshan would have killed him, alleges Angelina.

Watch:

Many reports suggest that the tiff was concerning a young woman that both Rosshan and Allwyn had been close to. Allwyn junior says Rosshan did not like him getting close with the woman. This apparently angered the director into bringing goons with him to his father’s house and attacking the family that included his parents, his 12-year-old sister and a doctor friend. A message that Rosshan reportedly sent to Allwyn was also spread on news portals. In it, Rosshan tells Allwyn that he does not want to be contacted for anything related to the woman. He calls her dangerous and says he is ending his friendship with her. For anything related to Allwyn’s future, Rosshan says, Allwyn can always call him and work with him.

However, the story that came from the Rosshan camp is that Allwyn was a drug addict who wouldn’t change his ways even after being warned by the former. Rosshan in an interview said that he had become fed up and had apparently let Allwyn go. This, according to Rosshan, angered the younger man and he began spreading rumours about the director. Rosshan had then reportedly gone to his dad and producer Alwin Antony’s house to solve the issue. Rosshan’s complaint says that he and his friend were beaten up at Alwin senior’s house. Allwyn has however staunchly denied these allegations and maintained that the fight was over his friendship with a woman.

In the afternoon, there was reportedly a meeting of both the parties at the DGP’s office but more details of the meeting are not out yet. Producer G Sureshkumar, who was also at the DGP’s office at the time, told TNM that the Kerala Film Producers’ Association has taken a decision that anyone wishing to take a film with Rosshan should ask the permission of the association first, thereby hinting at an unofficial ban on Rosshan.
