DMK President and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi has been admitted in the hospital again. A press release issued by the hospital has clarified that it is for a minor procedure.

The statement tweeted by the DMK chief's official twitter handle, says, 'DMK President and former Chief Minister of Tamilnadu, Dr.Kalaignar M.Karunanidhi has been admitted at Kauvery Hospital, Alwarpet, Chennai today for a minor procedure - change of PEG tube. He will be discharged from the hospital later today.'

It is signed by Dr. S Aravindan, the Executive Director of the hospital.

Following this, DMK leader J Anbazhagan tweeted that Karunanidhi is expected to be back home by Wednesday itself.

Due to his prevailing health condition, the DMK patriarch could not cast his vote in the July 17 Presidential election.

The 94-year-old Karunanidhi has been facing health issues since last October and has not participated in any public functions since then.

He was diagnosed with allergy caused by a drug he had been using and was advised rest.

In December, he received a week-long treatment for breathing difficulty caused by throat and lung infections and since then he has been recuperating at his home in Chennai.
