Following disagreements within People’s Welfare Alliance (PWA) about participating in the all party meeting called for by the DMK, the party is now struggling to decide on the issue of a coalition convener, reports The New Indian Express.

Various news channels reported that MDMK leader Vaiko has been removed from the post of coalition convener. These reports have come up after speculations about Vaiko advising VCK not to attend the all-party meeting organized by DMK.

However, alliance leaders told The New Indian Express that the post of coalition convener was non-existent since it was removed after the elections in May.  A senior leader said that CPM had asked for the post to be removed and that someone else can preside over the meetings, adding that there was no misunderstanding regarding this matter.

Sources told TNIE that it was Vaiko who asked PWA to participate in the rail roko organized by farmers’ association for the second day also. Moreover, Vaiko forced the party not to participate in the assembly elections happening in three places in the state. CPM wanted to fight the elections and VCK supported them.

Before the all-party meeting, Vaiko and CPM leaders had decided to boycott the meeting and suggested PWA to do the same. But VCK leader wanted the coalition to review the decision, though it agreed to opt out in the end, sources told TNIE.

However, PWA has decided to continue protests over Cauvery issue demanding the Centre to form a Cauvery Management board.
