The security guard who was arrested for molesting an IIT Madras student during a cultural fest was actually appointed breaching the contract norms, according to an IIT in-house publication.
 
According to an article updated in the The Fifth Estate, an in-house magazine, Mustaffa Ahamed, the accused was just 20-years-old. As per the clauses of the contract between IIT Madras and private companies, the deployed person should be between 25 and 40 years of age, according to TNIE.
 
Contrary to the article, the Kotturpuram police is claiming that the security guard is 32-years-old.
 
Moreover, the article stated that many other guards posted in the campus were either below 25 or above 40. 
 
An IIT student said that the accused was caught after his cap fell down in an attempt to run away. He added that the guard was not wearing an identity card.
 
The student claimed that the guard was not wearing an identity card, the police could have registered a tighter case against him.
 
According to the Tamil Nadu Private Security Agencies Rule 2008, every private security guard on active duty should wear and display photo id cards in the outermost garment.
 
The Dean was stated in the article saying that the demand for more female security guards and female officers in the security control room would be look into seriously.
