A 33-year-old resident of Gowripet in Chennai has been arrested for the murder of 38-year-old flowerseller Sundaram in Avadi. The accused had been in a relationship with Sundaram for 10 years before she hatched the plan for the crime, reports ToI.

According to reports, Sundaram had received a call from someone on September 2, left home and did not return. His mother had lodged a complaint and investigation was underway. The search however ended at a local auto driver's residence, where Sundaram's body was exhumed from.

The flower seller was reportedly harrassing Amudha under the influence of ganja. She was left upset by this told her neighbour, Diwan Mohammad, the auto driver about the issue and they soon struck a friendship. When Sundaram got wind of this, he opposed it.

Amudha then invited Sundaram home with the plan to murder him. She and her sister-in-law Rajeshwari then took him to the auto driver's home where he was murdered. The flower seller was stabbed with a kitchen knife and then repeatedly beaten with a hammer. A pit was then dug behind Diwan's house where the body was buried.

It was Diwan's mother who first told the police that her son's actions appeared suspicious. On interrogating Amudha, she then reportedly told the police what had happened. A hunt has been launched for Diwan, who is still at large.
