Four days after the murder of Infosys employee Swathi at Chennai’s Nungambakkam station, Congress leader Khushbu Sundar on Tuesday urged the media to leave the victim’s family in peace.

"It’s very unfortunate that something like this has happened. Let this be the last incident like this. My humble request to media is please don't hound the family,” the actress-turned-politician said.

“They need the privacy. For a mother to lose her 24-year-old daughter is completely inconsolable. No amount of words will give solace. They need privacy. Let your minds rest,” she added.

“The case has been given to city police. Let them do their duty. Let's not speculate. Let’s not trouble the family. I will not be discussing about lapse of govt. This is not the right time. We have lot of time to discuss it. We as citizens of state have failed in our duty. There were so many bystanders but we didn't do anything. We were mute spectators. This is very shocking. I think they should have come forwarded. If anyone has taken video or pics, pls take it to the cops it will help them."

Latest reports suggest that 24-year-old Swathi was being stalked for a month, leading up to the murder.
