Following the release of the controversial song ‘Demonetisation Anthem’ by actor Silambarasan, the Chennai police has provided protection at his T Nagar residence fearing protests from right-wing activists, reported The New Indian Express.
Eight police personnel have been posted on duty at the actor’s residence, according to reports. A police officer from the T Nagar police station said that they have not received any police complaint from the actor nor has he asked for a police protection. He said that they have stationed a patrol vehicle and a beat officer outside Silambarasan’s residence.
Actor Silambarasan’s song 'Demonetization Anthem' from Thatrom Thookrom was published on YouTube on Wednesday and has received more than 9 lakh views. The song was written Kabilan Vairamuthu and was sung by the actor.
The song starts with, "The two notes of Gandhi have gone missing" and "Banks and ATMS ran asku busku (empty)". The visuals show ordinary people standing in long queues while the song points out that those like businessman Vijay Mallya escaped to foreign countries despite debt.
This comes weeks after BJP had asked the producers of the Tamil movie Mersal to remove parts which consists of criticism of the Central government policies like GST and Digital India. H Raja of the BJP even alleged that it was because actor Vijay was a Christian that the film had such scenes. The Telugu version was released with muted dialogues.
BJP national secretary H Raja said that he is not aware of Simbu’s song.
