The arrested were Gorak Singh, (34), his friends Maan Singh, (36) and Lalit Kohli, (30). Police suspect that Gorak Singh had planned the murder. Chennai police commissioner S George told The New Indian Express that they arrested them after checking all the call records.

Gorak Singh was working in a jewellery shop three years ago and later was working in the same locality. Police said that he knew she was living alone and wanted to steal the valuables. So, he called two friends from Nepal to help him. Moreover, his friends came to Chennai a month ago and were working in a hotel in Mylapore.

In the second case, a 34-year-old man was arrested for the murder of a 58-year-old lawyer P Lakshmi Sudha at West Mambalam. The arrested person has been identified as M Karthikeyan, a resident of Nolambur.
