An Ola driver was arrested on Sunday for allegedly attempting to kidnap a 25-year-old woman after leaving her friend midway during the ride in Chennai, reported The New Indian Express.

S Muthuvel, the accused in the case, picked up Sayanthi Mithra and her friend, Suman Chakravarthi, (20) from the airport on Sunday. Sayanthi told the police that the car broke down near Pallavaram flyover and the driver asked for help from Suman. When Suman got out of the car, the driver drove away with the woman.

The woman said that after travelling some distance, Muthuvel went and hit another car. Sayanthi immediately ran out of the car and filed a complaint at the police station.

However, the cab driver said that both Suman and Sayanthi were having an argument in the car. When the car broke down, Suman got down from the car. But Sayanthi had asked the driver to continue the trip. The driver told the police that he had insisted on cancelling the ride. He also said that he was driving the car slowly  while speaking with the woman, when it accidentally hit another car, reported TNIE.

The woman, who stays at Perungudi in Chennai, suffered a minor injury during the collision and was treated at a nearby hospital. Based on her complaint, Muthuvel was arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
