The News Minute | February 2, 2015 | 5.20 PM ISTStudents of Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College in Chennai took to the streets in protest against the alleged decision of the administration to shift the classes temporarily to Thiruvallur. The metro work that is underway in Chennai had caused a crack in the historical building which houses the law college, which was established in 1891. It was being rumoured that the classes may temporarily be shifted to the nearby district Thiruvallur till the building was re-done. “Few students entered the class and asked us to join their protest against shifting the venue of the college. Few girls did not oblige and there was an altercation. The Principal came and asked those protesting to leave the college premises and all of us left. The gate was then locked by the college authorities,” a student said. The students later gathered in the Evening Bazar, George Town in protest. However, both the Dr. Ambedkar Law University and Dr. Ambedkar Law College in Chennai told The News Minute that there were no plans to shift the classes. Both even said that they were unaware of any strike by the students of the college. TweetFollow @thenewsminute
