Rajkumar K, a storyboard artist from Chennai, suddenly collapsed in his house on the afternoon of January 27, 2018.  The 30-year-old, who was in a state of cardiac arrest, was immediately rushed to the MIOT International hospital.

He was revived after 30 minutes of Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) but continues to be in the ICU.

According to the doctors, he has "not shown any significant neurological recovery yet and has features suggestive of hypoxic ischaemic injury".

At present, it is unclear as to for how long Rajkumar may need to be kept in the hospital or how long will his treatment be.

But his family and friends are hopeful that he will get better.

In order to help with the rising medical expense which is not covered by insurance and to assist the family in their daily expenses, an online crowdfunding campaign has been started.

"Though his condition is critical, we are hopeful. The daily medical expense totals to over a lakh a day excluding medicines. A little contribution from everyone could mean a lot for his family. They don't know at this time what the total cost of treatment will be or how long Raj will be out of work, but we felt we needed to start something to help alleviate any financial stress so they can focus on treatment and recovery," his friend P Satyanandan, who organised the campaign, wrote.

Rajkumar works with a graphic designing company and his family includes his wife, parents and sister.
