Weeks after a medical student died during a hair transplant procedure in Chennai, a 23-year-old engineer died at a private hospital in Chennaion Thursday during a plastic surgery for the injuries he had during an accident.

The family of the deceased, R Sabareesh filed an FIR at the KK Nagar police station alleging that the death happened due to the negligence of the doctors at the hospital, reports The Times of India.

On June 8, Sabareesh was struck by a car door at Anna Salai.  According to the police, the car driver was trying to shut the rear door properly when Sabareesh who was trying to overtake the car, saw the door opened but could not apply brakes. He hit the car door and fell down. He was struck by an MTC bus, his trousers got stuck in the bus and he was dragged on for 50 metres, police told TOI.

He was immediately shifted to Government General Hospital. A case was registered against the car driver. The skin had completely peeled off from Sabareesh’s back and was asked by the doctors to undergo a plastic surgery.

Reportedly, the doctors informed the parents that Sabareesh died on Friday. The parents informed the police and asked to conduct autopsy. Police told TOI, “"We are yet to find out whether he died of the injury sustained in the accident or due to medical negligence in the hospital. We are awaiting the postmortem report," said a police officer.”
