Tamil actor Vikram’s daughter Akshita got married to Manu Ranjith, son of CK Ranganathan, the Chairman of the Cavin Kare group.
Manu is also the great grandson of DMK President M Karunanidhi.
The wedding took place at Karunanidhi’s Gopalapuram residence in Chennai on Monday, with the 94-year-old leader presiding over the function.
The bride was dressed in a green and pink saree, with diamond jewellery, while the groom was dressed in a veshti.
Those present at the wedding included members of Karunanidhi’s family such as Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi, former Union Minister and elder son Alagiri, his son Dhaya Alagiri, former Union Minister Dayanidhi Maran and lyricist Vairamuthu.
Younger son and DMK's working President MK Stalin gave the wedding a miss, as he is presently in Ramanathapuram for the Thevar Jayanthi celebrations.
A grand reception is slated to take place on Tuesday, with the who’s who of the Tamil film industry invited.
A sangeeth was held at the ITC Grand Chola hotel in Chennai on Sunday, with actor Vijay making an appearance to bless the happy couple.
Akshita and Manu got engaged in July last year.
Soon after the engagement, Akshita's ring went missing. However, it was returned by a cab driver who was duly rewarded by Vikram.
The couple have been in a relationship for a while and exchanged wedding vows with the consent of their parents.
