DMK members on Monday alleged that the supporters of AIADMK candidate S. Gokula Indira from Anna Nagar were distributing cash in the area. She denied the claims and said that AIADMK cadres were only checking the new voters list.

Talking to The News Minute, son of DMK candidate M K Mohan, Karthik alleged that they found four AIADMK party members distributing Rs. 250 each to the people. He said, “Four AIADMK members were found distributing cash envelopes with the list of names of the people voting from Anna Nagar. We took them to TP Chatram police station, immediately AIADMK members came to the station.”

Later, the police refused to file a complaint, he said. “We protested outside the police station, after which the police filed an FIR against two of the four AIADMK members.”

Gokula Indira denied these allegations. She told ANI, “They were not distributing money. Our cadres were in the process of checking booth slips and new voter list in TP Chatram area. But DMK people harassed them and took them to the police station. DMK cadres are doing ‘rowdyism’. Our cadres were just doing their duty.”

She added that AIADMK party has the support of the people, and it is not involved in illegal activities like distribution of money
