Over 720 office bearers for the party’s IT (information technology) wing were appointed by Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa on Sunday to helm party campaigning on social media platforms.
Apart from the 14 state level workers, 6 more were appointed on Sunday to push the total number of appointees to 720. These office bearers comprised data analysts, PhDs in IT and diploma holders in IT fields.
Sources told The New Indian Express that every district will have a 14-member IT wing for micro-level campaigning through social media.
Earlier, the IT wing primed its newer version of campaigning called WhatsApp Bench on January 1 to rebut allegations by opposition parties.
The WhatsApp Bench sends audio clips to clarify charges by opposition parties. Over the past three months, 100 audio clips were released.
