Actor Radha Ravi praised DMK working president MK Stalin on Wednesday as he joined the party, leaving AIADMK behind. He met MK Stalin at the DMK headquarters and joined the party on Wednesday morning.

Calling MK Stalin the most suitable leader for Tamil Nadu, Radha Ravi went on to add that only he (Stalin) can save the state.

Addressing the media after joining DMK, Radha Ravi said, “Joining DMK party is like coming back to my family. Not only in this election, DMK will win the elections in the state in the future also,” he said.

Radha Ravi said that the DMK is the only party which enjoys the confidence of the people, according to a report in The Hindu.

While the actor was part of the DMK several years ago, he left the party due to differences of opinion with the party leadership. In 2002, he stood as an AIADMK candidate from Saidapet constituency and won the elections. But he was not re-elected in 2006. From 2006 to 2010, he had maintained distance from the party, but rejoined AIADMK in 2010.

After the death of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, Radha Ravi has made several overtures to the DMK. In February, at the wedding ceremony of actor and DMK MLA Vaagai Chandrasekar’s daughter, Ravi had said that Stalin is the most suitable person to take up the leadership of the state, according to reports.

Ravi said that he had promised DMK legislators Sekhar Babu and Vagai Chandrasekar that he would join DMK on his mother’s death anniversary, which is why he joined the party on March 1.
