A 29-year-old actor attempted to commit suicide by consuming rat poison on Wednesday after writing a suicide letter to actor Vishal. The actor’s wife had recently sent him a divorce notice.
The actor, M Ilavarasan wrote to actor Vishal telling him that he was facing financial problems after many film producers did not give his payments. He has worked in films like `Onaiyum Aatukutiyum', `Siruthai' and `Saguni' and some serials.
Police told The Times of India that Ilavarasan was alone at home when he consumed the rat poison. The actor’s friends came to his home at MKB Nagar and found him lying unconscious on the floor. He was immediately taken to Government Stanley Medical College and Hospital, where his condition is now stable.
Police said that Ilavarasan and his wife Sasikala have had several arguments over the payments to be paid by producers. After one such argument, his wife sent a divorce notice, which led him to commit suicide.
In the letter, he had asked Vishal to help actors who are struggling to get their payments and unable to support their families. An investigating officer told TOI that the actor was completely dependent on the payment he got from films.
Tamil TV actor Sai Prashanth also committed suicide by consuming poison on March 15, 2016. Police had cited loneliness and depression as the reasons for his suicide. In his suicide note, he did not blame anyone for his death. He had got married about three months ago.
