At least 20 ABVP activists staged a sit-in protest, obstructing the convoy of minister and TRS working president KT Rama Rao on Monday in Warangal, demanding the government to release job notifications. The minister had visited Warangal to inaugurate a drinking water facility constructed by the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation and also lay the foundation stone for flood sluice and duct works construction. The works to provide drinking water have been taken up at a cost of Rs 1589.37 crores.

Raising slogans against Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, the ABVP activists - the student wing of the RSS- formed a chain and blocked the road. The protest lasted for at least 15 minutes, halting the convoy. However, the police quickly detained the activists.

The BJP has intensified its campaign against the TRS government alleging that it had failed to provide jobs to the youth. This comes after the death of Sunil Naik, who allegedly killed himself for not getting a job. Naik, a resident of Mahabubabad was being treated at a hospital in Hyderabad. However, he died earlier this month

Meanwhile, speaking at the event on Monday, KTR said that the TRS government has introduced several measures to help the poor. “For the past six years, at an expense of Rs 12,800 crores, the government is providing fee reimbursement to graduates. Similarly, Telangana was the first state in the country to provide Dr BR Ambedkar overseas scholarship to the poor students to pursue their higher education abroad at an expense of Rs 20 lakh per student,” KTR said.

Regarding the unemployment crisis, YS Sharmila, daughter of former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, who had announced the launch of her party on July 8, has threatened to go on a three-day hunger strike from April 15 demanding the government to immediately release notifications and fill vacant posts.

Speaking at the Sankalpa Sabha meeting on Saturday, Sharmila alleged that the TRS government failed on all fronts. She said that from April 18, her followers in all the districts will participate in a relay hunger strike with the demand to address the unemployment issue in the state.
