Man arrested for making defamatory remarks about former TN CM Kamraj on Facebook

The News Minute| June 8, 2014| 12.30 pm ISTPolice have arrested 52-year-old J Jayachandradass, a central government employee for posting derogatory remarks about former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Congress leader K Kamaraj on Facebook.Jayachandradass allegedly used derogatory words to describe the leader on a picture of his statue posted on a Facebook page. He was arrested as the Kancheepuram east unit of the Tamil Nadu Vanigar Sangam Peravai complained to the police. A case was registered under the Information Technology Act and IPC section 505, he was then arrested and remanded him to 15-day judicial custody.K Kamaraj, was the Chief Minister from 1954-63. He is considered an iconic leader of Tamil Nadu with references to the 'Kamraj era'often made even today.
