An unemployed youth triggered off a flutter after he reportedly jumped in front of Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's convoy as it was passing near the Karimnagar collectorate on Monday.

The Times of India reported:

Parvatham Gopi, a resident of Eradavelly village in Mahadevpur mandal, who was immediately pulled aside by policemen even as the convoy that was just about to leave the collectorate came to a sudden stop. He was immediately taken to a private hospital on the instructions of chief minister to treat any injuries he may have suffered.

The report also adds that Gopi was carrying a bottle of pesticide. However, he had not consumed it.

The youth was frustrated that he could not get a job and was hoping to attract the attention of the chief minister to help him.

Earlier in the day, KCR held a review meeting on the heavy rains and flood situation in Karimnagar.

State finance minister Etela Rajender, Irrigation minister T Harish Rao and Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma were present along with other public representatives and officials.

KCR also took an aerial survey of the district.
