Telangana to witness rainfall for five days: IMD

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a five-day weather warning of thunderstorms and lightning in Telangana from April 12- 16 due to the cyclonic circulation over Odisha. On Wednesday in particular, the state will witness thunderstorms and lightning along with gusty winds of 30-40 kmph, the IMD cautioned.

“A cyclonic circulation lies over interior Odisha and neighbourhood extending up to 1.5 km above mean sea level. A trough runs from south Tamil Nadu to south Konkan across Kerala and interior Karnataka extending up to 0.9 km above mean sea level. The trough in Easterlies from north Kerala to southwest Madhya Pradesh and neighbourhood across interior Karnataka and Marathwada at 1.5 km above mean sea level has become less marked,” the IMD said.

On Monday, Adilabad received ‘excess’ rainfall as per IMD’s weather report recorded at 8.30 am. As per the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), Gadiguda in Adilabad recorded the highest rainfall of 4 mm. Besides Adilabad, ‘light rainfall’ (between 2.4 - 15.5 mm) was also witnessed in Nirmal, Nagarkurnool and Bhadrachalam, the TSDPS report said.

Meanwhile, on Monday, Medak recorded the highest maximum temperature of 39.8 degree Celsius followed by Bhadrachalam at 39.5 and Nalgonda at 38. Ramagundam recorded the lowest maximum temperature at 33.2 degree Celsius. Adilabad recorded 35.3, Hakimpet 34, Dundigal 35.5, Hanamkonda 36, Hyderabad 34.8, Khammam and Mahabubnagar 37 each, and Nizamabad 33.2 degree Celsius.

In Hyderabad, Quthbullapur recorded the highest maximum temperature of 35.3 degree Celsius while Rajendra Nagar recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 22.3 degrees, TSDPS said.

TSDPS observed that the maximum temperatures in the state are expected to be in the range of 37- 39 degree Celsius for the next three days, while the minimum temperatures are expected to be in the range of 22-24 degrees.
