Telangana government takes over land allotted to non-gazetted Andhra officers' association

The News Minute| July 4, 2014| 03:52 pm ISTHyderabad: The Telangana government has reclaimed the land allotted to Andhra Pradesh Non-Gazetted Officers’ Association (APNGOA). The land, which measures 189.11 acres, is situated in the Gopannapalli area of Hyderabad and was allotted to the housing society of the Association.The government had said that it would reclaim all ‘unutilized’ land allotted to firms, institutions and associations. According to a report in The Times of India, only a handful of Telangana employees, who are part of the APNGOA, will also lose their plots in the takeover.The APNGOA was allotted the land in 1991 but the plots were not allotted to its 7000 members for years due to controversies like identifying genuine members. The unutilized land was taken over by the YSR government in 2007 but eventually given back.The decision of the Telangana government could spark a controversy.
