Days after the Joint Action Committee for Social Justice at University of Hyderabad, which was formed following the death of Rohith Vemula, complained that a statue of Ambedkar in the campus was ‘desecrated’, the bust of Vemula kept at the Velivada has been vandalized.

The bust was found vandalized on Sunday morning, and members of the JAC allege that it was done late Saturday night.

The JAC’s FB page said, “Amidst the heavy rains, amidst the murderer Podile Apparao's regime and unabated stint of atrocities in University of Hyderabad where he continues to run office as the Vice Chancellor.

The students of University of Hyderabad woke up today morning to see Rohith's stupa vandalised.

This, after the administration stole the tent in the middle of the night. Babasaheb's Statue disappears in the night. And now this !”

Times of India reports that students fear that the university officials would soon remove the Velivada, where the Dalit scholar had spent his last days before committing suicide on January 17.
