Man dragged out of temple and stabbed to death, minutes before wedding in Telangana

In a brutal attack, a 24-year-old man in Telangana's Karimnagar town was dragged out of a temple and stabbed several times, before the assailants slit his throat on Thursday.

According to reports, the crime was allegedly committed by a group of men who belonged to the family of a girl he loved and was about to marry.

"Anil, 24, was in a relationship with a girl from here (Karimnagar).The two decided to get married in a temple at LMD Colony, on the outskirts of the city. They reached the temple in the afternoon, when the girl's relatives turned up there and hacked him to death with knives," PTI quoted Karimnagar Assistant Commissioner of Police, J Rama Rao telling reporters.

The PTI report also adds:

Anil's parents had accompanied him to the temple. The mob also attacked his father who sustained injuries, Rao said. The kin took the girl away and fled from the spot, he said, adding the injured was shifted to a government hospital and his condition is stated to be stable. A case of murder has been registered and investigation is on, he added.

The Times of India reported that Anil was a resident of Vijayapuri colony worked at a water purification plant.

The report also adds that ten people were involved in the attack.
