Even as the state faces the possibility of a drought, Telangana Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has rented a private executive jet for his trip to China, which will cost the state exchequer Rs 2 crore.

This government sanction of Rs 2,03,84,625 comes just three days after the chief minister wrote to the NITI Ayog seeking permission to borrow more money than permissible under the Financial Responsibility and Budget Management Act.

According to a Times of India report, he promised that such additional funds will be used only on infrastructure projects.

The chief minister will be accompanied by a 12-member delegation, which includes his son and IT Minister K T Rama Rao for a week-long trip to China, to attend the World Economic Forum event in Balian, starting on September 9.

The government order was issued on Monday and the aircraft has been rented from September 9 to September 16, while the event ends on September 11, the TOI report adds.

The plane is a 50-seater plane customized to seat 17+1 passengers with leather seats, sofas and a customized entertainment centre besides being equipped with satellite phones and LCD screens.
