KCR dreams of hosting 2024 Olympics in Hyderabad

The News Minute | July 17, 2014 | 11:05 AM IST K Chandrasekhar Rao, the first Chief Minister of Telangana is working towards some big goals for the new born state, one of them is to host the 2024 Olympics in Hyderabad.An article that appeared in The Indian Express says that the Minister has been reclaiming thousands of acres of lands in Hyderabad that are reportedly under illegal occupation to make space for the Olympics. The report hints that the re-opening of the Begumpet Airport near Hyderabad was also due to KCR’s 2024 Olympics dream.Kavitha, his daughter and the party MP from Nizamabad told IE that her father always had grand plans. Right now, the Telangana Rashtra Samiti is looking to acquire “about 30,000 acre” of land in and around Hyderabad. According to Kavitha these are lands which were gifted away to realtors and industrialists who hail from “Seemandhara” by the Andhra Pradesh Bhoodan Board.
