KCR announces trifurcation of Medak district

The News Minute | December 18, 2014 | 3:55 pm ISTTelangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday, announced that the Medak district would be split into Medak, Sangareddy and Siddipet district.According to a report in The Hindu, KCR addressed a public meeting in his native district to discuss various water and irrigation related projects. He also directed officials to entrust the works to sarpanches and the Mandal Parishad Territorial constituency (MPTC) on nomination basis.KCR also made an aerial survey of Ghanpur, Anicut and Manjeera River in the district. He was accompanied by Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy and senior officials from the irrigation department. KCR sanctioned Rs. One crore for Medak town and Rs. 40 lakh for gram panchayats for development activities. A rally was taken out by Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy in support of the decision to trifurcate the district.
