A couple committed suicide near the railway tracks at Peddapalli Mandal in Karimnagar on Friday. They reportedly consumed a cool drink laced with pesticides.

Twenty-two-year-old Krishna Murthy belonged to the Vaishya community while 20-year-old Monika belonged to the SC community.

According to the police, the couple was seeing each other for the past few months and they tried convincing their parents as best as they could, but the girl’s parents did not accept their relationship.

CI Peddapalli A. Mahesh told The News Minute, ‘’the couple belongs to Odela mandal, Kolanur Village.  As they don’t come under our PS limits, we didn’t get much information. As far as we know, the girl’s parents were against this marriage, so the boy consumed cool drink (Thumbs-up) and the girl took Frooti mixed with pesticides.

A case has been registered under section 174 Cr.Pc (suicide) and a further probe is going on.
