Written by : TNM Staff

In a shocking case, a woman and her mother were arrested by the Cyberabad police after they let a fake godman rape her 16-year-old daughter, allegedly to 'cure' her.

According to reports, the godman was raping the girl for almost a year, following which the girl's father found out, and lodged a police complaint against the trio.

The two women believed that the godman was driving out 'evil spirits' from the girl, the police said.

TNIE reported that the godman even developed a physical relationship with the girl’s grandmother and later with the mother.

“A year ago, the 'baba' was called to perform some puja. Following the puja, the baba, along with the woman and her mother, took the daughter to a Srisailam temple where, under the guise of puja, he sexually assaulted the girl. After that incident, the man continued to assault the girl sexually on multiple occasions even at their residence in Hyderabad,” Inspector DV Ranga Reddy told Deccan Chronicle.

Cases under multiple charges have been registered against the two women and the baba, including under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The victim underwent a medical examination and police are on the lookout for the main accused.
