HC directs Telangana and AP to remove all unauthorized posters, cutouts and statues of politicians

The News Minute | December 27, 2014 | 8:35 am ISTPosters and cut outs of politicians may soon be a rare sight in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh after the Hyderabad High Court on Friday directed the two states to take steps to remove all unauthorized flexes, cutouts and statues of all political leaders.According to a report in Deccan Chronicle, a 2008 petition filed by Mr Sudanagunta Murali Krishna of Prakasam district challenged the digging of pits and encroachment of a major part of the road for a politician’s statueDealing with this petition on Friday, the counsel for the AP government placed a GO issued by the AP government in 2013, not granting permission for installation of any statue in public places without prior permission.Referring to the various cutouts that were displayed in the city, Chief Justice Sengupta was quoted as saying that the huge cutouts and flexes not only cause incovinience to the general public but are also embarrassing to the VIP who is displayed.
