Tension prevailed in Kodangal, the constituency of TPCC working president Revanth Reddy on Saturday night, after his supporters sat on roads in protest, raising slogans against the police for raiding the residence of Revanth’s close aides.

The flying squads conducted raids at the residences of Reddy’s aides – Yousuf, Mustaq, Ramachandra Reddy and Madhusudhan Reddy, following which the Congress supporters gathered in large numbers outside their house and raised slogans against them, and got into a heated argument, questioning what they found in the raids. Following these raids, Revanth Reddy also joined the protest, alleging that the authorities were biased and claimed that they didn’t have search warrants to conduct the raids. He alleged that the authorities were intimidating his supporters by carrying out such search operations.

As the protest continued, the district Deputy Superintendent tried to ease the situation. However, Congress supporters didn’t retreat; as a result there was a traffic jam for hours together.

On Friday, the flying squad had conducted raids against another aide of Revanth in Bomraspet mandal. The Congress leaders have been alleging that the Election Commission and the police are working in favour of the TRS, and harassing their party men.

Earlier, similar raids were conducted against Vanteru Pratap Reddy, Congress’ Gajwel candidate, who is taking on the TRS chief, K Chandrasekhar Rao. With the police often conducting raids at his residence, and that of his aides, he had threatened suicide, alleging police harassment last week.

Following these raids, TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy, alleged that the Election Commission of India and the state police are indirectly supporting the TRS party, and going against the spirit of free and fair elections.

Speaking to reporters during a recent media interaction, Uttam Kumar alleged that Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar and Director General of Police Mahender Reddy are inclined towards the TRS. He said that the police are filing false cases against Vanteru Pratap Reddy at the behest of KCR. He alleged that the ECI is under the influence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and KCR.

Telangana will go to polls on December 7, and the results will be declared on December 11.
