Two babies die at Chennai's KMC after vaccination , parents allege negligence

The News Minute | January 18, 2015 | 09.20 am ISTAfter the death of two infants at the Government Kilpauk Medical College & Hospital on Saturday morning, parents and relatives of the children alleged medical negligence by the doctors. The infants born less than a month ago were healthy and discharged according to their parents, S Saranya and M Rasathi, reported The Hindu. They were brought to KMC for BCG vaccination to the hospital on January 7. Accoridng to Dhanam, her grandson fell ill a day later. Admitted in the ICU at KMC, she said that treatment was delayed for many days. On Saturday morning, they were informed that the child had passed away, said the report. According to Saranya’s family, since it was holiday season, only PG students were available for taking care. However, the hospital said that the infants had come in with a bacterial infection but had not responded to any treatment provided. Fifty one children received BCG vaccines that day, said the report.
