Transgender duo attacked by members of their own community in Dindigul

ISTEarlier today, two transgenders travelling from Chennai to Dindigul were attacked by members of their own community. Nadia and Monisha were on their way to visit their families when they were attacked by members of their own group over money. Ganga from Vellore along with Seema and Divya from Theni accosted them and demanded money as the duo had left the city, reported Thanthi TV. When they refused, they were attacked.They have sustained injuries and were admitted to the Dindigul Government hospital. Their attackers demanded that the transgenders hand over the money they earned in Chennai.“They said that if we wanted them to let us go, we would have to give five lakhs, but we told them we don’t have it. They asked why we wouldn’t have it since we looked beautiful.” said  Nadia.Nadia and Monisha have lived in Chennai for many years prior to this incident.
