The News Minute | September 26, 2014 | 08:25 am ISTThe language domination between Hindi and Tamil in the state is far from over.A recent state government order issued on September 18 has made Tamil a compulsory language in all schools in Tamil Nadu, which includes Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) institutions, said The New Indian Express.Out of the 565 schools affiliated to the CBSE in Tamil Nadu, all except 41 Kendirya Vidyalayas, 2 Navodya Vidyalayas and one Sainik School will have to include Tamil as a subject for its students, said the report. An earlier circular making Tamil a compulsory paper for Class X students in the academic year 2015-16 had forced many students to move to CBSE schools. What control the state will have over the workings of central board managed schools is another area of concern, said NIE.
