The Madras High Court directed the Assembly Secretary on Monday, to submit video clippings of the trust vote proceedings that took place on February 18, 2017.

The first bench consisted of Justice Huluvadi G Ramesh and R Mahadevan. 

The interim order said, "Assembly secretary is directed to produce the video-graph recorded from the commencement of the confidence motion till the end," The New Indian Express reported.

The court has also issued notices to the Assembly Speaker Dhanapal and Chief Minister Edapaddi K Palaniswami. They have to respond by March 10.

This comes after PILs were filed by DMK working president MK Stalin, Advocates Forum for Social Justice president K Balu and Traffic Ramaswamy who had asked that the trust vote be declared as illegal.

MK Stalin’s counsel R Shanmugasundaram claimed that even though his client had requested for the video clippings from the Assembly Secretary, he is yet to get the clippings.

Balu’s senior counsel said that the Speaker’s decision not to follow the Supreme Court verdict in the Jagadambika Pal vs Kalyan Singh case in which secret ballot was used, was irrational, TNIE reported . 

He added that making the MLAs stay at the Golden Bay resort was also breach of privilege of the Assembly.

DMK working president MK Stalin, has already, in his representation to Governor C Vidyasagar Rao, requested that he invoke his constitutional powers and "nullify the entire proceedings with a view to protect the spirit of democracy and the Constitution."
