Six hours by train from Chennai to Delhi soon to be a reality

The News Minute| November 15, 2014| 7.00 pm ISTSoon, train commuters can travel the distance between Chennai and Delhi in about the same time that it takes one to reach Bangalore by train from Chennai.The world’s second-longest high-speed rail corridor is to be built between Delhi and Chennai with trains running at speeds of 300 km/hour covering the distance in six hours, reported Hindustan Times. .Likely to cost about Rs. 2 lakh crore, it will be jointly developed with Chinese counterparts, said the report. This is another project part of PM Modi’s plan to build a network of trains running between the major metros of India. Previously, plans to construct a high-speed rail project between Mumbai and Ahmedabad were announced.
