PUCL seeks transfer of Perumal Murugan to Chennai college

The News Minute | February 5, 2015 | 09:00 am ISTBoth the Tamil Nadu and Puduchery wing of the People’s Union of Civil Liberties have moved the Madras High Court to transfer Perumal Murugan , the Tamil author, to a Chennai city college. According to the petition by PUCL general secretary S Balamurugan , tithe author had applied for a transfer to a government college in Chennai after all the controversy surrounding his book, reported The New Indian Express. Apart from the transfer request, the petitioner also pleaded with the court to frame guidelines to enable the government to deal with similar situations where the fundamental rights of of citizens were threatened, said the report. The issue has been posted to February 9 for further hearing.
