Written by : TNM Staff

Five days after police arrested a 29-year-old resident of Ukkadam in Coimbatore in connection with the murder of Hindu Munnani leader Sasikumar, they have put out a 'wanted' notice for two more suspects.

Sasikumar, a Hindu Munnani spokesperson, was chased and hacked to death in Coimbatore in September 2016. Following this, 29-year-old Abuthahir, had been arrested by the police last week. According to reports, the CB-CID suspected that he had a role in the murder. The CJM court in Coimbatore remanded Abuthahir in judicial custody for 15 days.

Following this arrest, police have put out a ‘wanted’ notice for two more Coimbatore residents. They are 37-year-old Mubaraq and 25-year-old Sadam Hussain. The police have described them as suspects in the murder case. They have further asked the public to share any relevant information they may come across regarding their whereabouts.

Anonymity and a reward for the informer have also been announced by the police.

There was widespread violence in Coimbatore following Sasikumar's murder in September. The murder also led to religious tensions in the city. Miscreants reportedly threw petrol bombs at mosques causing panic, following which police protection was provided to all places of worship.
