The News Minute | December 12, 2014 | 7:10 am ISTAll airport authorities have been told not to harass Sarah Thomas , an NRI arrested at the Chennai airport on October 29 for four days on mistaken identity.Arrested when her flight landed from Dubai, Thomas was interrogated for an hour on the basis that she was Sarah Williams accused of cheating an insurance firm and absconding for the last 13 years, reported Deccan Chronicle. Later, however, she was released after it was determined that she had been mistakenly identified as Sarah Williams. However, Chennai officials at the Madras High Court believed her interception to be genuine. Even though it was found that she was mistakenly identified as Williams , the officials believed her identity and other parameters matching, which was confirmed by Interpol through fax, reported Times of India. The reason for her interrogation and imprisonment was her resemblance to a wanted woman from the same locality she came from. After a few days at the Puzhal jail she was then transferred to the Kerala police, said the report. Even though the case has been closed, Thomas has sought an understanding from the court to prevent further harassment . She has also planned to sue the officials for compensation.
