At least 10,000 new TB cases in Tamil Nadu in one year

The News Minute | March 23, 2015 | 09.20 am ISTDespite many cases going "missing" inspire of a mandatory notification process for TB-afflicted patients, Tamil Nadu has seen at least 10,000 new cases in the last one year.According to The Hindu, of the total 10,000 identified, the largest number was in the Coimbatore-Nagapattinam belt and the northern part. As per state rules, TB cases must be notified to the government by private practitioners. With private doctors treating between 20 to 25% of the population, at least one-fifth of patients are said to go "missing" or do not get accounted for, said the report. TweetFollow @thenewsminute
