The News Minute| October 1, 2014| 8.30 am ISTA PIL filed against the appointment of O Panneerselvam as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has resulted in a fine of Rs. 25,000 against the petitioners by the Madras HC.The PIL which opposed the CM’s appointment due to his allegiance to a ‘convicted person” was dismissed. The amount is to be donated to the Jammu and Kashmir Flood Relief Fund, according to The Times of India. Filed by K R 'Traffic' Ramaswamy and N Rajaraman, the bench said that entertaining the petition would be proportionate to interference of the judiciary with the affairs of the Executive and state, said the report. The bench also said that the petition was filed with a view to gain publicity.
