Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, J Jayalalithaa's niece, Deepa Jayakumar is all set to officially announce the name of her political outfit, a ‘Federation’, on February 24, which also happens to be the late CM’s first birthday after her death. In addition to the name of the federation, she will be introducing its flag and revealing the name of its office bearers.

In January, Deepa had announced that she will be making a public announcement regarding her entry into the state's political sphere on her aunt's birth anniversary. Following this, on February 3, a former AIADMK MLA in Coimbatore announced that Deepa's party will be called All India Amma Dravida Kazhagam. The flag too was revealed at the press meet. It was similar to the AIADMK flag, except that it had the images J Jayalalithaa, MGR and CN Anna Durai.

Following Deepa's announcement, however, there were rapid political developments in the state. It started with VK Sasikala being declared as the Legislative Party head. Deepa has in the past been vocal against Sasikala and her family. She has stated on several platforms that the former aide will not be accepted as a leader by party members and that Jayalalithaa had disliked Sasikala's family.

Deepa initially did not take a stand on the political fight between the two AIADMK factions. But on the night of Sasikala's conviction in the DA case, she met former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam at the Amma Memorial and expressed her support for him. She further told the media that Panneerselvam and she would work like the two arms of the AIADMK.

With the OPS faction however failing to unseat the current Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisami, it is yet to be seen how Jayalalithaa's niece will fit into the current political puzzle.
