Dalit youth Gokulraj's alleged barbaric murderer Yuvaraj gets bail

The Madras High Court has granted bail to Yuvaraj, prime accused in the Gokulraj murder case.

As per the arguments in court today, his counsel said that he had been in jail for more than 6 months under trial.

He has to present himself before the Tirunelveli police every day as a part of his bail condition.

The murder of Gokulraj, a 21-year-old Dalit youngster last year shook Tamil Nadu. He was last seen along with a female friend at the Thiruchengode Arthanareeshwarar temple on June 23, 2015. 

According to his friend, a few men then came to Gokulraj and took him away stating that one Yuvaraj wanted to meet him. His headless body was found by the railway tracks on June 24, in the Namakkal district. A post-mortem has reportedly shown that he was strangulated and stabbed in the neck.

Yuvaraj, the prime accused in the alleged murder of a Dalit youth for talking to a girl from the Gounder community, surrendered at the CB-CID office in Namakkal. The 34-year-old, who is a leader of Gounder group Dheeran Chinnamalai Gounder Peravai, surrendered in the presence of hundreds of his supporters. Three police teams had earlier been looking for Yuvaraj for the past three months, but failed to nab him.
