The News Minute | September 13, 2014 | 11:34 am ISTInvestigations are on into the unconfirmed reports of a youth of Chennai origin, who is said to have blown himself up in a suicide bombing attack for the Islamic State (IS) in the Syria-Iraq theatre, states a report by The Times of India. If the reports turn out to be true, then this would be the 'first time that an Indian has been found involved in a suicide attack anywhere in the world', further states TOI. Of late there have been several reports of Indian youths joining the IS or Al-Qaeda and there are serious concerns about what would happen if these men returned to India. The report quotes a security establishment officer as saying, "If this information turns out to be true, we are in for some serious trouble if and when these boys return".Though there is not need to worry about any immediate threats to the nation, security agencies are working towards ensuring that the festive season passes without any untoward incident, adds the report. Earlier this month, four young boys who were pursuing their engineering degree in Hyderabad were caught by the police while trying to join ‘jihad.’The four were attracted to the message spread via social media inviting people to join the Islamic State in Iraq.Read: Hyderabadi youths' attempt to join ISIS foiledAlso the Al-Qaeda recently announced that it would launch an India wing of its organisation to spread Islamic rule and 'raise the flag of jihad' in the Indian subcontinent, following which the Home Ministry put several states on alert.
