Chennai Police nab 9-member drag race gang using Facebook videos

The News Minute | December 20, 2014 | 10:53 am ISTTwo young drag racers must have thought better than to post videos on Facebook which led to the police busting their entire network.Chennai police busted the network involved in the theft of 54 high-speed bikes worth 49 lakh in the last year, reported Times of India. The police, on seeing the videos on Facebook , became suspicious and sent friend requests to two bikers, B Venkatesh and D Karthik. On gaining access to their accounts, cops found a number of videos of the duo and others performing bike stunts using expensive bikes. On checking the registration numbers and the bike models, they found a difference, reported New Indian Express. The two were taken into custody following which they arrested seven others part of the same gang. The gang would steal high-end bikes, dismantle them and rebuild new ones, said the report. The gang would steal the bikes such as Enfield, Bajaj, TVS, Yamaha and KTM. Tweet
