Body of missing TN student washes ashore near Mahabalipuram, parents allege 'murder'

The body of a 20-year-old student of Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music who went missing on Sunday, washed ashore on Tuesday morning near Mahabalipuram.

The deceased, Niloy Sen Gupta who hails from Guwahati was pursuing a diploma course. He was a drummer. He had attended a get together at Blue Bay, a beach resort near Mahabalipuram. There were about 42 students and eight staff, as reported by The New Indian Express.

Anand Sen Gupta, Niloy’s father told TNIE that they were informed that he went missing around 11:40pm and was last seen when he went out at 6:30pm. He also said that he had asked for CCTV footages of the hotel but he was denied permission.

Around 9am on Tuesday morning, Niloy’s body was found near the place he was residing. The father claimed that there were injuries on his head, face and neck and alleged it to be a “cold blooded murder.”

Niloy had come back from his house, to his college on August 20. His father said that Nioy’s new roommate had issues with sharing the room, according to The New Indian Express.

The father had complained to the college management and asked to change Niloy’s room. He also suspected that this might be the reason behind the alleged death.

The Mahabalipuram police suspected it to be a case of drowning and are carrying out an investigation.
