BJP to contest Srirangam by-election

 The News Minute | January 24, 2015 | 09.20 am ISTThe earlier doubt whether BJP would contest the Srirangam seat previously held by Jayalalithaa has been cleared after the party announced its candidate.An announcement made by BJP Tamil Nadu State President Tamilisai Soundararajan on Friday , BJP Vice President M Subramaniam will be the candidate for the elections.The seat has been left vacant after the disqualification of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in a disproportionate assets case.According to Soundararajan, the BJP candidate has the backing of other NDA parties DMDK, the IJK , Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi and New Justice Party, reported PTI.
