As the 2016 Assembly polls come closer, AIADMK and DMK parties are gearing up with political campaigning heating up on Wednesday.

AIADMK began its campaigning Saadhanai Vilakka Latchiya Perani which is a rally to make people aware about the achievements of the State government. The rally started in all 50 party districts and 234 constituencies at 7:30AM on Wednesday.

A 40-page booklet was distributed to the people. It states all the achievements of the government in the past four-and-a-half years and also excerpts of statements given by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on key issues. It also talks about the false accusations of the opposition party which is trying to malign AIADMK party, according to TNIE.

CM Jayalalithaa has also asked party cadres to meet people as many times possible and also try to defend the party against the false accusations made by opposition parties.

Meanwhile, DMK treasurer M K Stalin started the fourth phase of his campaign ‘Namakku Naamey’ from Radhakrishnan Nagar and asked people for a change in the ruling power. He had interaction sessions with sanitary workers and said that it was DMK government which set up the welfare board for sanitary workers.

The sanitary workers complained that many NGOs and individuals who came for flood relief work were not allowed in the area. Stalin said that all the complaints have been sent to the concerned authorities but it can be solved if DMK comes to power in 2016, according to TNIE.
