On Wednesday, nine ABVP members were arrested by police in Coimbatore for burning the national flag of Pakistan.

ABVP members staged protests in front of Government Arts college at Race Course on Wednesday, in the wake of the death of 17 armed forces personnel in Uri, Jammu and Kashmir earlier this week.

During the protest, they burned Pakistan’s national flag, and pictures of Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

Speaking to reporters, ABVP district secretary Arun Vignesh said, “Whoever supports or shows respect to terrorism or terrorists in Tamil Nadu, we will set them on fire and kill them.”

Coimbatore Police arrested nine ABVP members around 2:30pm after a complaint was filed against them.
